Up until the pandemic, travelling to Italy has been one of the greatest joys for me and my family. A country small in size (similar geographical size to Victoria, Australia), yet so diverse in regions all producing amazing cuisines and intern wines.
This ‘Italian Red Wine Pack’ covers regions from the north, via central to the south of Italy, allowing us to take you on a journey through the country and express what climate, terroir and wine making traditions can do to produce beautiful approachable and quality wines.
“The famous Speri Winery just below in the Veneto region, brings us a classic expression of the Corvina grape”
We start from the north and a cooler climate Kaltern Pinot Nero from Alto Adige, a town bordering Switzerland and Austria. A beautiful balanced wine, great fruit and a silky finish. The famous Speri Winery just below in the Veneto region, brings us a classic expression of the Corvina grape with their Valpolicella Classico Superior. Such a versatile wine with pasta, baked fish or even a good panino filled with cold cuts and cheese.

Our journey then moves across west to Piedmont and Mauro Guido. His Barbera del Monferrato Superiore gives a full flavour wine with great balance, perfect if grilled meat is on the menu. No journey in Italy is complete without visiting the Tuscany region and with Viticoltori Senesi Aretini Chianti Riserva we see the benefit of bottle ageing to give a matured complex look at the Sangiovese grape with lots of dried herb notes, red cherry flavours with a rustic finish bringing you to the famous tuscan hills in that moment.
