This is absolutely classic Santa Cruz Mountain Cabernet. It embraces the wonderfully complex, earthy, savory components of the varietal as much as the big fruit and power. Briary tones, blackberry, damson plum, black raspberry, forest floor, cedar, and pipe tobacco issue forth. Savory spices and leather are in here too. The wine is medium-plus bodied, with nice fine tannins and lovely acidity giving excellent length on the palate.
