The Heymann-Lörwenstein Riesling bottling comes from grapes from the family's Schieferterrassen vineyards - essentially the premier-cru sites of Hamm and Brückstück. These are very steep slate sites that are organically farmed. The grapes are very gently pressed as whole bunches before indigenous-yeast fermentation (around 30% in old casks, 70% stainless steel) before a long period of lees contact and relatively late bottling. Very peachy and concentrated on the nose with apple strudel and mango dessert. Mouth-filling and seemingly almost off-dry, but the ripe fruit is carried succinctly by mouthwatering acidity.
