A special wine from a special block, the Wendling vineyard is located in the coolest part of the Anderson Valley, and in fact is not really in the valley at all. Littorai chose this special block (E) for the exceptional diversity of the clones and rootstock combinations. Energetic and quite brooding, this wine is deep and rich with fruit present (think dark and tart red berries), yet it plays second fiddle to the dominant non-fruit character; mocha, baking spice and an old woodsy character. Tannin profile is dense and mouth-filling, which melds well and softens the acid profile of this cool-site wine. More so than any of their other releases, this wine is the one that will most benefit from ageing, and has the longest possible cellar life span of any of these exquisite biodynamic Pinots from Littorai.
